Lumen Cardiovascular Specialists is a group of expert cardiac and vascular specialists servicing the Western Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Our main office is in Elmhurst, IL with a satellite office in Melrose Park, IL. Our locations provide services to the areas of Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Melrose Park, Oakbrook, Oak Park, Forest Park, La Grange, Hillside, Westchester and Bensenville, IL.

Asif Serajian, DO is a fellowship-trained, board-certified interventional cardiologist. Dr. Kamel Sadat
Dr. Sad is a board-certified cardiologist. Prior to joining us, Dr. Sadat attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He trained in internal medicine at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and cardiology fellowship at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He also trained at the Methodist Debakey Hospital in Houston Texas as heart failure, advanced assisted ventricle device and heart transplant specialist. Cathleen is a nationally certified physician assistant by the NCCPA specializing in cardiology. She graduated from DePaul University with honors and received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. Cathleen obtained her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Practice from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, one of the top 15 ranking physician assistant programs in the country at the time of her graduation. Read more….

    Dr. Sadat is a board-certified cardiologist. Prior to joining us, Dr. Sadat attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He trained in internal medicine at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and Cardiology fellowship at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, he also Trained at the Methodist Debakey Hospital in Houston Texas as Heart failure, advanced assisted ventricle device and Heart transplant specialist,and in the University  of Alabama at Birmingham in advanced echocardiography training.

    His research interests include the integration of multi-modality cardiovascular imaging into clinical practice, with a focus on echocardiography, 3D echocardiography and speckle tracking . This includes the application of cardiovascular imaging to cardiovascular disease prevention, acute myocardial infarction, valve disease and cardiovascular disease in the elderly.

    His clinical interests include the use of novel devices for assisting Heart failure patient, heart transplant, non-coronary cardiac interventions such as per-cutaneous valve replacement.

    His interests outside Heart failure cardiology include treatments for venous disease, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.

    Cathleen has always been passionate about the field of cardiology. On top of her general medicine training in graduate school, she pursued a cardiology elective where she was a part of the management and care for those in both the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic setting. Cathleen is able to diagnose and treat a multitude of cardiac conditions,  with examples such as: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, peripheral artery disease, venous insufficiency, and a variety of cardiac arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation. She actively attends medical conferences, seminars, and courses in order to stay on top of the latest advances and discoveries in cardiology.

    Cathleen also strives to take a holistic approach with patients by promoting healthy lifestyle modifications in conjunction with optimizing medications. She takes not only the physical, but also emotional, needs of patients in consideration in order to provide the utmost empathetic care.
