Safer and less invasive approach for treatment of heart disease through the wrist (trans-radial) Minimally invasive treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) for those who have failed medical therapy or no other options exist for treatment. Minimally invasive treatment of lower extremity arterial disease for those patients with no other options for treatment besides amputation. Development and implementation of new techniques and processes in treatment of coronary and peripheral arterial disease. Improvement in the quality of healthcare delivered so that a patient gets “more” from their office visit.

Dr. Samir Shah is a graduate of B.J. Medical College, Ahmadabad.
He finished his Cardiology Fellowship from Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, a University of Chicago affiliated fellowship program in 1986.Mentored by CHF Guru Dr. Karl Weber, Dr. Shah presented research papers/abstracts for American College of Cardiology on Congestive Heart Failure. He is a practicing Board certified Invasive Cardiologist for last 30 years affiliated with Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak lawn and Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park till 2017 and subsequently closed private practice and worked for Rockford Heart & Vascular Group, Illinois. Dr. Shah is a proud fellow of American College of Cardiology and member of AMA for many years.

Dr. Shah is very active with Indian American Medical Association of Illinois (IAMA-IL) since last seven years and became President of IAMA-IL in 2015. He successfully completed is presidency in 2016, one of the rare opportunity to serve as the President for two years. Dr. Shah brings new vision & leadership for IAMA creating Vision, Implementation and Action plan in 2015. Appreciated by many past Presidents & his well wishers his achievements, dedication and hard work, this is what Dr. Gopal Lalmalani , Mayor of Oakbrook and Past President of AAPI & IAMA-IL wrote…”Your effective leadership and sheer passion to the service of our members is so obvious, that you have raised the bar significantly this past two years for IAMA”. With deep interest in Art and Music, he started with IAMA as the Entertainment Chair position for two years and successfully completed Co-Chair position for entertainment for AAPI-Chicago convention in 2013 creating a spectacular Fashion Show. Dr. Shah was honored at the American Association of Cardiologist of Indian origin (AACIO) for organizing a great annual meetings in Chicago in 2016 and 2018.

Dr. Shah has given his volunteer services for many social activities and health fairs at various temples and organizations in Chicago. As the past President of IAMA-IL in Chicago, Dr. Shah has sponsored various community awareness programs for Heart problems and Cancer. Dr. Shah continued his services in advisory position to IAMA-IL presidents and participating as the Board of Directors for VSM temple as well as and IAMA-IL. During his career as a practicing physician, he has chaired Quality Assurance Committee, CME and Educational Committee and Department of Medicine as Vice Chair at Little Company of Mary Hospital. He is a Chicago native since 1979 and lives in Burr Ridge with wife Bella ( Prerana). Dr. Shah is very proud of his growing family with the two boys Pallav and Amish, Dr. Rina Shah as daughter in-law , a practicing Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist in New York and adorable grandson Niam.

Cathleen is a nationally certified physician assistant by the NCCPA specializing in cardiology. She graduated from DePaul University with honors and received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. Cathleen obtained her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Practice from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, one of the top 15 ranking physician assistant programs in the country at the time of her graduation. 

Cathleen has always been passionate about the field of cardiology. On top of her general medicine training in graduate school, she pursued a cardiology elective where she was a part of the management and care for those in both the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic setting. Cathleen is able to diagnose and treat a multitude of cardiac conditions,  with examples such as: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, peripheral artery disease, venous insufficiency, and a variety of cardiac arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation. She actively attends medical conferences, seminars, and courses in order to stay on top of the latest advances and discoveries in cardiology.

Cathleen also strives to take a holistic approach with patients by promoting healthy lifestyle modifications in conjunction with optimizing medications. She takes not only the physical, but also emotional, needs of patients in consideration in order to provide the utmost empathetic care.
