Lumen Cardiovascular Specialists is a group of expert cardiac and vascular specialists servicing the Western Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Our main office is in Elmhurst, IL with a satellite office in Melrose Park, IL. Our locations provide services to the areas of Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Melrose Park, Oakbrook, Oak Park, Forest Park, La Grange, Hillside, Westchester and Bensenville, IL.

Dr. Asif Serajian
Asif Serajian, DO is a fellowship-trained, board-certified interventional cardiologist. He is a patient care advocate who is committed to using the latest scientific research and newest procedural techniques in the care of his patients. He also believes that good communication with the patient and other healthcare providers will lead to better healthcare outcomes.
Furthermore, Dr. Serajian has published several articles in the Journal of Invasive Cardiology and other peer reviewed journals describing new cardiovascular techniques and is an Editor for the Vascular Disease Management Journal as well as the Journal of Invasive Cardiology. Dr. Serajian grew up in Kentucky and attended Transylvania University in Lexington, KY for his undergraduate training. He received a degree in biology there but also had interests in philosophy and physics. He then went on to get his Doctorate of Medicine from Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. He conducted his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of Ohio. He obtained board certifications by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Serajian completed his fellowship training in Cardiology through the Michigan State University at Oakwood Health System and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Providence St. John Hospital in Southfield, MI. During this time he received board certifications in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography. He was employed and practiced in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago for 3 years until he decided to open his own practice in Elmhurst, IL. Dr. Serajian is a compassionate and caring doctor who is committed to help you achieve your best state of health and well being.
Dr. Mohammad Shakir
Dr Shakir is a board certified cardiologist focusing on all aspects of non-interventional cardiology. His interests include echocardiography and clinical cardiology. He received his undergraduate training at the Loyola University Chicago. Then he went to Midwestern University for his medical school, Internal Medicine and Cardiology training. He served as a hospitalist and intensivist at Northshore Univerisity hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine as well. His hobbies include Crossfit, Yoga and soccer. Recently, he has been enjoying time with his newborn and his wife.
Dr. Imad Ahmado
Dr. Ahmado is a board-certified cardiologist. Prior to joining us, Dr. Ahmado attended Harvard Medical School, and Tufts University, School of Medicine/Lahey Clinic. He trained in internal medicine at Cook County Hospital and Cardiology fellowship at Michigan State University, where he was chief cardiology fellow.
His research interests include the integration of multimodality cardiovascular imaging into clinical practice, with a focus on cardiovascular nuclear studies. This includes the application of cardiovascular imaging to cardiovascular disease prevention, acute myocardial infarction, valve disease and cardiovascular disease in women.
His clinical interests include the use of novel devices for percutaneous treatment of coronary artery disease, non-coronary cardiac interventions such as percutaneous valve replacement, drug-eluting stent studies, peripheral arterial disease and novel imaging technologies.
His interests outside interventional cardiology include treatments for venous disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.
